Welcome to Growing ‘n Musing! I am Kellion and I’m grateful to have you sharing this experience with me.
In this space, I offer poetry, hopeful reflections, and sometimes prayer as tools for growth, mindfulness, and (self)-love.
I’d like to officially introduce myself through the poem below.
A few years back, an instructor tasked me with writing my own eulogy. This may sound crazy, but it was a humbling yet uplifting experience.
When I was done with the assignment, the following poem is what I came up with and it’s become a guiding star for me.
Eulogy, by Kellion Knibb
She took up space.
She was bravely herself, authentically
for no one, but herself.
On her way to herself,
she died, and came back as a woman
who wallowed in compassion and thoughtfulness.
She became the woman she always hoped to be:
She ebbed and flowed;
she experienced everything
in their richness
–serving and unserving–
Kellion learned to love and forgive
because she understood and accepted pain.
She forgave quickly and easily
because she was an advocate for healing
and letting go.
She danced soulfully
because she knew stillness;
She laughed loudly,
throwing her chin back
to bask in the joy of her laughter.
Her flaws were familiar to her;
they taught her patience
as she grew to accept them.
The vices that she was so open about
made her a lifelong student
of herself.
She enjoyed cultivating spiritual connections
with people, things, and places;
she enjoyed learning how to love
others the way they needed;
she enjoyed seeking out the lessons
in every experience;
she enjoyed taking on new challenges
that directed her inward
as much as anywhere else.
Kellion lived.
And because she lived so soulfully,
she will never die, but merely, moved on.
This is an original poem by Kellion Knibb, creator of Growing ‘n Musing.
Beautiful poetry Kellion. Excited for every Wednesday!
Thank you, Tasha! I appreciate your support. :)
